Metro Walls along with sister company Exterior Designs today announced donations totaling $20,000 to The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities NH, during a volunteer event at the NH Food Bank in Manchester. The critical funding will support the NH Food Bank’s efforts to distribute nutritious food to more than 400 partner agencies statewide. A team of 8 volunteers from Metro Walls and Exterior Designs, which are both owned by Mike Dion, helped load a distribution truck with food. “The support from Metro Walls and Exterior Designs will have a major impact on the NH Food Bank’s efforts to supply food to the more than 139,730 New Hampshire residents who do not know where their next meal is coming from,” said Robert Gossett, interim director of the NH Food Bank. “We are extremely grateful for this support, which comes at a time when the need continues to grow.” This $20,000 donation comes during Hunger Action Month, a nationwide awareness campaign urging businesses and residents to take action to fight hunger. In New Hampshire, the need continues to grow. One in nine New Hampshire residents—including one in five children—are food insecure, meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming from. Since 2011 Metro Walls and Exterior Designs have donated $80,100 to the NH Food Bank. “It is incredibly important to help those in need and hunger is something that is affecting thousands of people in New Hampshire,” said Mike Dion. “I was proud to see my employees and senior staff here today loading a truck with nutritious food and helping the NH Food Bank fight hunger in New Hampshire. We are proud to be able to make this contribution.” In 2015, the NH Food Bank distributed more than 12 million pounds of food, which equates to more than 10.1 million meals, marking a nearly 55-percent increase from just four years ago. This year, the NH Food Bank anticipates distributing more than 13 million pounds of food to meet the growing need.
